It’s a testament to a good relationship when one of your favourite and oldest clients sticks with you when they’re working with an agency on their promotional photographs. I’ve been working with the Canadian Internet Registration Authority for almost six years and, this year with the help of Alphabet Creative, this year we were finally able to produce some “custom stock” for CIRA.
“Custom Stock” is stock photography but created for a single business’ use. Nobody else has access to them. The advantage of stock libraries is their ubiquity; you can find almost anything you need, inexpensively. That rapid availability comes with the caveat that anyone can also have and use the same imagery. It’s why you see every “About us” or “Now Hiring” seems to have the exact same perfectly multi-ethnic group of smiling staff. This stuff, we create for the client in-mind. A bit of tech, colours to keep the imagery on-brand, and negative space allowing for layout options and a variety of uses. We pulled the creative together quickly, shooting over a few days in April. We used a number of different locations, none of which distinctly “Ottawa” since CIRA is a national organization.
A lot of the day is about keeping the energy up. We were fortunate to have a great team from Alphabet as well as Taylor & Greg on my end.
