I’m very pleased to announce that, from October 18th to 28th I’ll be opening a PopUp photo studio right in my own Ottawa neighbourhood: Hintonburg.
1089 Sommerset is a great space, that in-no way could I afford on a permanent basis, but it’s there, it’s empty, and I said I’d be willing to clean it up. I’ll be offering headshot sessions to clients old and new who maybe couldn’t spring for a location shoot. I’ll also be offering my first “Learn your Lights” beginners lighting workshop, which I have had countless requests for.
For those interested in the workshop, It will be a one full day course, with an evening meet & greet the night before. Friday October 25th 7pm-9pm, and Saturday October 26th 10am-7pm. I give you your Sunday so you can still have a weekend and play with what you’ve just learned. It’s a beginners workshop, so we’ll ease into things for people who may not even own a flash (though it will make things easier), I’ll have lots of gear on-hand for you to play around with as we learn more complicated lighting techniques. Some on a budget, some less so. I have ten available spots, it’s a small group, we’ll cover a lot of ground, but I hope to be able to spend one-on-one time with anyone struggling.
I’m also happy to say we have a few sponsors who have sent some neat prizes our way, workshop participants will have a chance to win some cool stuff from FJ Westcott, thinkTank Photo, and EnlightPhoto.
I’ll post more details closer to opening, but I wanted everyone to know early on, in case they’re interested in what’s going on. I have a few other items planned I just have to work out scheduling. If you’re in the neighbourhood those weeks, and you see me inside, drop on by to say Hello (or maybe have a portrait session… *ahem*).
More to come…
