The kind folks at MediaStyle were some of my first commercial photography clients in Ottawa. In 2011 I went for a hard-edged ring-light look to their corporate headshots. While I did follow-up portraits in the following years, nothing stood out quite like that first portrait set, so I wanted to go back to a more creative-light approach to the images; something that wasn’t as easy to replicate time after time and would stand out when used in social media or on their website.
This dark look isn’t for everyone, and a lot of our early treatments actually had the team posing with a straight face, but it became clear pretty fast that they were all going to smile and look into the camera in one way or another. Oh well, no need to be overly dramatic.
Special thanks to Buffalo-based photographer Luke Coping for the lighting tips.
