Ottawa Magazine comissioned me to visit Holland Hill Stables late last summer as the editorial photographer in their most recent issue. The shoot centered around A camper that Katie uses out in the field during the summer with her children.
Being a farm, it couldn’t be as simple as taking a photo of a trailer in the field, of course I wanted to showcase the denizens of the farm. We chased down chickens, were visited by dogs, cats, and a freaking pony!
We timed it so that the sun would be lower on the horizon and then carefully filled in the shadows to reduce the contrast with a 135cm Elinchrom Octa on the ELB1200 using high-speed sync. Pretty much the only way I know of to get that kind of power in the middle of a field to shoot at 1/2000th of a second.
Thanks to Rob Lloyd for assisting me on the shoot, taking some of the BTS, and just all-round looking great.
