Gettin’ Ready for spring? I have to say, I’m excited for my first, conceivably, “not crazy” first spring living in Ottawa. The advantages for me this year? I didn’t: just move here, start a new job, have a son in the NICU, buy a new house. What I DO have is this 100mm f/2.8 macro […]
I’m finding these underpasses fascinating – though I’m not sure if anyone else out there is, lemme know what you think in the comments and if this is boring, I may just change direction a bit sooner. I walk to work every day, but one of the best things about my course is that there […]
Thanks to everyone who entered my name that photo contest from last week. But like the Highlander there can only be one: Owen’s title “Crackle” just seemed to resonate with me – so congrats man – send me an E-mail with your deets and what image you’d like to see in an 8×12 (or equivalent) […]
I’m still getting some feedback from the “name that photo” contest from a few days ago, so I’ll likely leave it open for the weekend. If you want to share your thoughts about which one you like best (I’m going for the more simple titles) feel free to follow me on twitter. Otherwise have a […]
I’m going to let yesterday’s “Currently Untitled” photo contest run another day since only a few people dropped their ideas in the comments section. This tells me only a few things: People think I’m lying People don’t want a free (!!!) print People don’t want a free print from me 8×12 people – I usually […]
Anyone want to take a stab at naming this image? I’ll sweeten the deal – anyone who comes up with the best name (arbitrarily decided by me) gets an 8×12 print of their choice. Leave your suggestions in the comments section for all to see.
I’m leaving Toronto tonight and I gotta say, I had a fantastic time. I have the very best friends and I’m extremely fortunate – if I was a more spiritual man I’d say I was blessed. Thanks to Rainbow, Andrew, Mike, Jay, Will, Dan, Glenda, Sandra, Eda, Megan, Natalie, Joe, Owen, Elias, Nick, Andrea and […]
I’m a huge wuss. No joke. I have never been in a fight, and in cases where a fight MAY occur I completely puss out and try to Walk away Talk my way out of it Never leave the house
I once tried to “eyeball” level a shelf in my basement. I don’t know how I justified the act – inebriation is highly likely, as are most of my “fix-it” projects – but I put up a shelf, in the middle of a wall that shouldn’t have had one… so I could place a lightsaber […]
Things get really quiet in Ottawa when the sun goes down.
Question: Who mails stuff anymore? Answer: THIS GUY! Getting stuff in the mail is awesome – I’ll admit it, even bills. Mail has my name on it, often is personalized to me (yes I did make those long-distance phonecalls!), and often comes with added literature to keep me informed (I will call before I dig […]
A convenience store a few blocks away from my work burned down last month. A few weeks before that a restaurant across the street from it was also set alight. A month before that a house a few blocks from my house was on fire. And last year an entire building at the corner of […]
Mel and I visited Petit Bill’s Bistro in Westboro last weekend. They had Lobster Poutine – delicious – nuff said. And if you haven’t yet, please sign up and vote for this blog!
I’m starting to wonder if a robot uprising is really just a self-fulfilling prophecy waiting to happen. We, as a society, already fantasize heavily on the subject: Blade Runner, The Matrix Movies, The Terminator, all Japanese Anime, and The Muppets. All robot propaganda subverting our psyche until the day our artificial overlords take their place […]

Staring down at the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre in Ottawa – lots of great intersecting lines and stuff at this place. Also – good food.
BSG starts in 10 minutes, so I’m throwing this online and MAYBE some of you will comment. Have a great weekend – stay warm.
My co-worker killed the crap out of this Orchid. I kept pointing out to her that it was dead, and I don’t think she was in denial, but she still didn’t see the need to get rid of it. Anyways, she dropped it in the trash Monday – RIP pretty hard to care for flower.
Thus continues this weeks theme of stuff that’s dead in Ottawa.
I liked the lines.
Obviously the most active elderly in Ottawa.
This past weekend was Owen’s birthday so we went to “his” bowling alley. I’m not even sure if anyone other than him played – but it didn’t seem to matter – he would have enjoyed himself without us.
