The architecture and interior I work for many of Ottawa’s home-builders often gets all the attention, but commercial interior design – offices and work-spaces – is just as important a part of our daily lives. I’ve worked with the women of Parallel 45 for a number of years now, watching their firm grow and even re-brand. This year had some of their best work yet; a variety of projects from dentists, to doctors, and more.
The largest space we photographed this year took a lot of staging by distance, sending assistants far into the cubicles to remove personal items and distractions that popped up in the image.
I don’t personally have any orthodontics, but if I needed to get some, I figure this would be the place to get them. A lovely open space with big windows and an incredibly helpful staff.
Just because a space is smaller, doesn’t make it easier to shoot. In fact Oxford’s office had some tricky angles that had me making all sorts of compromised positions to figure out my shots and angles.
The medical field is definitely a space that needed some good design. A clean aesthetic, smart layout, and practical design all contribute to the patient experience.
Incorporating a sense of scale, I was #blessed to have Josh Hotz assist AND act as a walk-through model for this shoot.
