Sometimes an agency calls you up for some advertising photography; and when it’s with a big brand and celebrity designer there’s no passing up the opportunity. One cold morning in February, after months of planning shot lists, layout, and scheduling, we headed out to Amanda Forrests to set up for a 13-hour day of shooting Scotch’s Expressions decorative tape.
It may not seem like much in the end, a dozen or so images, but we were on a very tight schedule. With four completely different sets all done in Amanda’s home studio. We had to stage the scene, light it, shoot multiple stills for the client, wait for remote confirmation. All while building a second set, ready to switch-over once we received confirmation. Thankfully, we had an excellent team, including a number of creatives from traffik group, Matthew Meisner, and Natalie Peachy on makeup.
The lighting was created for an even soft spread. Nothing dramatic. We knew all the images would be cropped in multiple ways to fit different layouts, and there wasn’t time in the one-day shoot to create a more nuanced look. Still, reflections on some of the product proved difficult and there was a fair bit of on-site problem solving (as there always is). The imagery would also compliment some of Amanda’s own photos (which were pretty great without my help) and are part of a number of featured blog posts: http://inspirationthatsticks.3m.com/baby-bliss/
The overhead camera was my idea 🙂
